Catching up with Steph – Unleashing potential on and off the Rugby field

Steph Else playing rugby

In the world of sports, there are few things more captivating than witnessing a rising star’s journey unfold.

Recently, we caught up with Steph Else, one of our Invest in the Future athletes, whose passion for rugby has been the driving force behind her pursuit of excellence.

“I have recently come back from a 2-week camp for England under ’20s, a week at Wellington College where we played France at home and then a week in France to play them away. I played in the second row for both games and even called the line-outs when I came on at points.

I have played both games of the Premier 15s Cup, where we eventually came 4th in the league and I played in the second row in one game and started at 8 in the other calling the lineout for both games.

We are now going into the Allianz Premier 15’s league with 5 weeks of games running up to the semi-final on the 10th/11th of June.

Recently we played Loughborough Lightening winning the tough game to land us back at the top of the league table, I was 1 of only 3 people to not be capped for the women internationally in the squad of 23 this week, and hope to continue to be named in the squad with the games coming up.

There are plans for the England under20s to go on tour to Canada this summer, to play both Wales and Canada, which is very exciting and something to look forward to.

Depending on my game time with Gloucester-Hartpury, I may be playing 7s with the English university 7s team.

We have recently won the BUCS National League final with the university rugby team against Exeter University, I scored, started in the row, and called the lineouts too.”

We wish Steph the best of luck in her upcoming rugby fixtures and her university studies!
